The Basics on Bases
When it comes to building your base before you start actually adding color, there are so many options and products to choose from and the build with.
Some think that a foundation is the first step, but you can actually start with a primer if you feel that your skin needs the extra coverage. Many of these contain light-reflecting pigments that illuminate skin. As for foundations, most offer lighter weight coverage than before so decide what best suits your needs. Some even contain salicylic acid for those of us who are prone to outbreaks.
Tinted moisturizers are a great alternative to foundations. Products like BB Renew protect skin with an SPF of 15, hydrating minerals and enough coverage for most of us. For those who want the lightest feeling coverage possible, powders are great products. Many contain vitamins and minerals that help to protect and renew skin while reducing the appearance of pores and fine lines.
Regardless of how you cover the overall area of your face, most looks can benefit from a little concealer. Concealers come in creams, gels, and pencils all of which seem to blend well and provide similar coverage. To get the most from your concealer, apply it on top of your foundation then top it off with a light dusting of powder.
The latest tools for a completely flawless look include the airbrush makeup kit. The latest reviews give this tool two thumbs up, and users say that it will give you a look as perfect as a professional could do.
No matter what look you are trying to achieve, always start with a great base that will help heal and nourish skin for a flawless look.

Look Like the Girl Next Door
With all of the fresh, young faces hitting the scene these days, who wouldn’t want to look fresh and new like Blake Lively? To help achieve this look keep the colors soft and natural.
Start with a tinted moisturizer containing an SPF of at least 15 and apply a thin layer. Follow that up with a highlighter across the cheeks, nose and forehead. Top the highlighter off with a peach or light pink cream blush and blend well.
To keep eyes fresh and young, use a soft brown pencil to lightly line the bottom lash line only. Blend using a toasted almond eye shadow that you will then apply to the entire lid. Eye shadow can have a soft shimmer, but don?t overdo it.
Curl lashes and apply a single coat of brown or taupe mascara to top and bottom lashes. If your lips are naturally pink, use a clear lip balm with conditioners and sun protection. If your lips are less than pink, choose a balm with a hint of pink. Avoid sticky glosses or heavy lipsticks, even if the color is light. Looking fresh and new can be quick and easy with the right colors and products. Your girl-next-door look is sweet and fresh!

My Summer Sunscreen Arsenal
I’m ready for war against those attacking UV rays!
I’ve got Sublime Sun from Loreal SPF 30 for my body, and Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 55 for my face. Sunny days here I come!
I know I say it too much, but sunscreen is The number one way to preserve your beauty. Sun and tan feels so good, but it’s soooo bad for your skin in the long run. Keep looking good longer.
What’s your plan to preserve your youthful skin?

Eye Primer – What the heck is it?
Eye primer (also eye brightener) can be used to lighten dark circles under and around your eyes, and also on your eyelids to better prime the skin surface for your eyeshadow color. It will make your eyeshadow color last much longer without clumping into the crease of your eye. Eye primer will also protect your tender eye skin from sun damage which can cause even more darkening that you want to avoid.
I have been testing this product recently: Revlon Photoready Eye Primer & Brightener. The product it self seems to do the trick, but for correcting dark circles, I prefer a spongy applicator rather than the brush type applicator this one provides. However, if you are using it just for a primer on your lids, this applicator is perfect and does a wonderful job. For brightening you will need to dab carefully with your third or fourth fingertip being careful not to smear or you’ll have to start all over. So go ahead, give your bright eyes a chance with this one.

Brighten, Lighten, & Glow – skin highlighter
Using a highlighter and a contour can really improve the glow of your skin, but trying a new make-up technique can seem a bit daunting. By placing a highlighter on the highest points of the face (cheekbones, bridge of nose, brow bone, and center of the chin) you can create extra dimensions to the face, which make a natural (non-surgical) lift look. A highlighter should be used in combination with a contour to keep the look natural and add more depth.
A matte bronzer makes a great contour while shimmering eye shadows in whites or creams make great (and inexpensive) highlighters. Using this shimmering shadow in the inner corners of the eye and along the brow bone will open up and brighten eyes. You can even sculpt your look by adding a highlighter down the top, center of your nose and then putting contour on the very tip and along the sides. Be sure to BLEND!! Harsh lines are only meant for the runway and don’t look great on most of us. By highlighting the tops of cheekbones and contouring the more shallow area below, you can create an instant lift for the entire face.
Again, be sure to blend in an upward motion working your way out to the hairline. Of course, highlighters can also be used all over, not just on the face. Try blending some in along the collarbone and down the décolletage to create an all-over glow.

Smelling Good – Perfume and Body Scent Tips
A smell can linger in your memory forever. We all have scents that we love and that make us feel good. When you finally find a scent that fits your personality, your mood or the day, it feels great. Keeping that scent throughout the day can often be a challenge though.
One trick to increase the staying power of your favorite smell is to layer the scents as you get ready. Layering makes them last longer. Start with a body wash (if you shower in the mornings) and follow that up with a body sprays or lotion. There are also deodorants and antiperspirants on the market now with complementary scents.
When achieving the perfect scent for you, the choices are endless. You can mix and match scents in a more creative way or be more traditional with same-scent combos. As the day wears on, and your scent wears off, try spritzing a body mist behind your knees and on the wrists to help you feel refreshed and energized with that just starting the day feeling.

Makeup Primer
One step that most of us usually skip or don’t know about is applying makeup primer. It may sound like something you do when you paint your house, but isn’t that what you’re doing, painting your face? In one small step, you can make your makeup appear smoother and make it last longer. Plus, the glow it gives can be amazing!
You can find a primer anywhere, from drugstores to Sephora. Tarina Tarantino makes an excellent slightly shimmery kind that is worth the money you will pay for it. If you don’t want to shell out $30 on it, any makeup aisle in a store should stock a cheaper brand that will also work well.
When you apply, it will make you skin feel silky smooth, which is always a plus! You can even apply it to your eyelids, which makes the eyeshadow stay uncreased. It will adhere your makeup to your face in a way, creating a long-lasting look. There’s just absolutely nothing bad about it!
In a world where we paint our faces daily, we should definitely get the same smooth treatment that anything else would.

The Right Foundation
Have you ever walked out of the house only to notice that your foundation didn’t quite match your skin tone? It’s actually very common! Many people put on their foundation, make sure that it is blended well, and generally do everything right… and then find out that they’ve been using the wrong shade. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us! Each company has a different palette of shades that they use.
The trick to a great base is finding out which shade matches your skin tone. It may sound tough, but it isn’t. Actually, one of the best ways to do it might even be fun! If you have access to a local mall, you can get a bit of help; a second opinion. The workers at the makeup counters can assist you in finding that perfect color. And how do they do this? By testing.
Before you pick any foundation, you should test it out. Put it onto your skin and see if you can tell where it went on. If it blends in perfectly, you have your color! It sounds simple, but hundreds, if not thousands, of people have a problem with it each day.

Glowing Skin
Have you ever noticed how some people seem to just glow, even when the sun isn’t hitting them? It’s as though they have their own personal sunbeam that follows them around! They have a gorgeous glow on their cheeks, and luckily, it can be yours.
Most of the steps you will need to take are ones that you will need to work on each and every day, even when not wearing makeup. Each morning and night, wash your face, and remember to exfoliate about once every week. Easy! Also, remember to put on a layer of sunscreen when you head outside to protect your precious skin from the harsh sunlight.
Each night, remember to get enough sleep. It sounds too easy to be true, but it really works! Sleeping truly helps your skin rejuvenate itself. Keeping stress down and leaving pimples alone are also good fixes.
If you keep up a healthy skin routine like this for a few weeks, you will quickly begin to see results. That beautiful glow can be yours!

Making Makeup Last
Whether you’re at work, on the road or even just sitting at home, nobody wants their makeup to fade away into nothingness easily! We want makeup that lasts all day, throughout any harsh treatment we may put it through. Sadly though, this isn’t a common thing. Most days, your makeup has faded by lunch time. So how do we fix that? Easy!
The very first step is to apply a moisturizer to your skin; followed by your foundation. Instead of putting your makeup directly onto the foundation, lightly dust a loose powder over it. This will help seal the foundation to your face. The first step to long lasting makeup!
If you’re a blush fan, keep in mind that the powder variety will stay on your cheeks longer. Mascara fans, always go the waterproof way! And those who adore eyeliner? If you try a liquid type, it will stay a lot longer than any pencil liner.
As for lips, if you carry a colored lip gloss with you throughout the day, you’ll always have it for touch-ups. However, if you prefer a lipstick, there are plenty that adhere to your lips and give you long lasting color.
If, after all this, you are still afraid of your color fading, there is one more option. Though it is usually used for theater, you can invest in a makeup setting spray, which will keep that beautiful look on your face all day long.
