Glowing Skin

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to just glow, even when the sun isn’t hitting them? It’s as though they have their own personal sunbeam that follows them around! They have a gorgeous glow on their cheeks, and luckily, it can be yours.

Most of the steps you will need to take are ones that you will need to work on each and every day, even when not wearing makeup. Each morning and night, wash your face, and remember to exfoliate about once every week. Easy! Also, remember to put on a layer of sunscreen when you head outside to protect your precious skin from the harsh sunlight.

Each night, remember to get enough sleep. It sounds too easy to be true, but it really works! Sleeping truly helps your skin rejuvenate itself. Keeping stress down and leaving pimples alone are also good fixes.

If you keep up a healthy skin routine like this for a few weeks, you will quickly begin to see results. That beautiful glow can be yours!

Making Makeup Last

Whether you’re at work, on the road or even just sitting at home, nobody wants their makeup to fade away into nothingness easily! We want makeup that lasts all day, throughout any harsh treatment we may put it through. Sadly though, this isn’t a common thing. Most days, your makeup has faded by lunch time. So how do we fix that? Easy!

The very first step is to apply a moisturizer to your skin; followed by your foundation. Instead of putting your makeup directly onto the foundation, lightly dust a loose powder over it. This will help seal the foundation to your face. The first step to long lasting makeup!

If you’re a blush fan, keep in mind that the powder variety will stay on your cheeks longer. Mascara fans, always go the waterproof way! And those who adore eyeliner? If you try a liquid type, it will stay a lot longer than any pencil liner.

As for lips, if you carry a colored lip gloss with you throughout the day, you’ll always have it for touch-ups. However, if you prefer a lipstick, there are plenty that adhere to your lips and give you long lasting color.

If, after all this, you are still afraid of your color fading, there is one more option. Though it is usually used for theater, you can invest in a makeup setting spray, which will keep that beautiful look on your face all day long.

Makeup for Pale Skin

Many people are very fond of tanning or simply being out in the sun; but that isn’t the case for everyone! Throughout the world, a very pale skin tone is loved by a large chunk of the population. What those people don’t think about though, is that most makeup is not made for such a fair color. Very bright or dark colors can easily look ridiculous.

The first step is finding a foundation that matches your skin. This will be the hardest task that you face, because most tend to be a bit too yellow or shades too dark. Even the lightest ivory shade might be too dark! Cover up your foundation with a translucent powder and double check the colors to make sure your skin looks evenly colored.

Once your base is finished, the rest is quite a bit easier! If you are a fan of blush, a light pink will give you a very pretty rose-like glow. This will add a perfect freshness to your face. Light eyeshadow mixed with a simple shaded gloss can do wonders for pale skin, and don’t forget the mascara!

When you are finished, you should have a very classic and beautiful look. Pale skin has never looked better!

My Favorite Foundation

I am not a liquid foundation girl. Although I tend to have slightly splotchy skin due to all my freckles and sun damage, I still steer clear of overall foundation, especially the liquid kind. I just prefer a more natural fresh look as well as feeling. It’s just a personal preference. I am able to even out my skin tones by other means.

So, after I apply concealer to spots that need to be hidden, and sunscreen over everything, I finish the look with a powdered foundation. I use Revlon ColorStay Mineral Foundation in the color “fair”. It has an SPF 10. For some people, this product could feel very drying. I think that since I use it over my regular sunscreen that isn’t a problem for me. It fills in my pores and makes everything smooth and even. It also lasts a long time and stays in place. It’s so much easier to get a smooth even look with a powdered foundation as opposed to a liquid one. I use a big fluffy brush to apply it.

Remember, liquid foundation is not a preference for everyone, and this is a great option if you’re looking for an alternative.

Correcting Under-eye circles

Under eye circles are the root of all evil for some girls! Waking up in the morning, heading to the mirror and realizing that you have those awful dark markings can be a horrible surprise. So what do you do? Do you throw on all the makeup in your collection just to cover them up? Not exactly.

Before we get to how to fix it though, there are a few preventive measures you can take to stop them before they begin: Always get enough sleep at night. Beauty rest does wonders! Also; rubbing your eyes sleepily in the morning may be the cause of these cruel circles! Try to avoid doing so if possible.

Now, on to what you’ve all been waiting for! Making the dark circles fade away like magic! The first step, as with any makeup, should be to put on a nice moisturizer. From my experience, the next best thing to do is to apply a concealer directly to the circles. Instead of rubbing it in with a finger or a sponge, pat it with your finger until it is covering that darkness!

Now simply cover with foundation and a light powder, and you’re done! Bye bye circles!

My Favorite Wrinkle Cream

In the never ending search for the perfect miracle cream to stop these wrinkles, I am currently using Loreal “Advanced Revitalift Anti-wrinkle concentrate”. I have not been using it very long, so the jury is still out on this product for me as to whether I will continue to purchase it in the future or not.

From what I have learned so far, it does make my skin feel very silky and not gummy like many other moisturizers. It does seem to produce some toning to my skin as well. I wish I could say that it has erased my wrinkles, but I think it will truly take a real miracle to do that. Either a miracle or something more drastic like surgery, which I am not exactly keen on doing. My vanity has not gone there yet!

The Revitalift cream comes in a very handy tube, which I really like, as opposed to those awkward jars that most creams come packaged in. This should make it easy for travel.

So, while I wait to see if it truly has wondrous effects, I do know that I already like it better than most other similar products I have tried. I wonder if others will have the same beauty results.

My favorite Concealer

This is the second entry where I am reviewing all of the products that I use on a regular basis. This week it is my concealer! I use Revlon ColorStay Blemish Concealer, in the color “fair”.

I just discovered this product about a year ago and I love it. It is great for small blemishes that I want to cover and it really does last all day. It’s like a nice paint when it goes on and it won’t come off after it dries. Hide those blemishes! Most of the blemishes that I am trying to conceal are actually dark sunspots caused by sun damage that I got when I was younger and never wore any sunscreen. It does a good job of concealing them and blending in with my natural skin color.

I like the applicator on the wand since it helps blend and spread nicely. It’s also a great value and really seems to last a long time. This is definitely a winner and something I will continue to buy.

Holiday Makeup Tips

The festive party season is about to begin. Is your makeup ready? Make it special by adding a few special items to your makeup collection. Start with some radiant bronzer, –not too dark though. You want just enough to give a boost to dull wintertime complexions, but not so much that you are trying to look like you have a summertime tan.

Next, treat yourself to a new fragrance. This can be for you, or just for your house! Get some holiday incense or spritzer. Choose scents that remind you of the holidays like pine, nutmeg, oranges, or cloves. If you treat yourself to a fragrance, splurge on a perfume that is sophisticated and not to sweet.

Finally, get in the spirit. If you’re going to paint the town red, start with your lips. If your normally wear the same lip color day after day (a bad habit that I am into myself), then it’s time to brighten things up. Normally I wear a dark pink shade of lip color for my daily color. Recently I attended an event where I wore a black dress and carried a red feather boa. I had bright red lipstick to match. When I saw photos of myself in that bright red lipstick, I was stunned at how radiant I looked! I am planning to wear it more during the holiday season.

Speed Beauty

Suppose you have been at the beach all day basking in the sun and sand. You have a hot date but are late getting back to your hotel because of traffic problems or you just couldn’t find your car! Now you have less than 15 minutes to change clothes and make yourself presentable, otherwise you will be late and lose your dinner reservation. There is not really time to shower. What do you do?!

Believe it or not, there is time for a quick presto change-o rinse in the shower before you throw on your clothes, although probably not enough time to actually wash your hair, unless you have a wash-n-go style that you can default to. If you do, then go for it, otherwise, give your body a quick rinse so you’ll feel fresh.

What makeup items are critical?

The answer is: Eyeliner, mascara and powder!

That powder will soak up all the oil and sunscreen to give your skin that fresh matte look. This is definitely easier to do in the summer when you may have a little more color on your skin. Reapply your mascara and eyeliner, then you can freshen your lipstick in the car on the way to the restaurant, because like most beauty conscious babes, you probably keep lipstick in your purse.

Now you’re ready to go! Enjoy your dinner date!

Beauty Tips for Facial Hair

Facial hair… I’m not talking about eyebrows, or those of us who have an unfortunate mustache that we have to wrestle with. I’m talking about that baby peach fuzz that is all over your face, and most of your body for that matter. On some women, that peach fuzz gets to be quite thick! It’s really distracting and makes it hard to get your foundation on smooth.

Believe it or not, some women choose to remove that hair. They use a facial hair remover, or even shave it. The thickest areas for this hair are on the lower cheek especially near and along the jaw. I have found that shaving looks ok, but it grows back stubbly and no one wants a rough face. Just trimming this fuzz with some tiny grooming scissors is an acceptable alternative. It won’t remove all the hair, but it will get it to an acceptable level where it isn’t so distracting.

If the idea of this is giving you the heebie jeebies, then just remember that this is no worse than having to trim a projecting nose hair, or an eyebrow hair that is growing wildly out of control. If you have never experienced a wild hair like this, just give yourself time. You probably just aren’t old enough yet. Those hairs tend to get wilder as we get older.

The expensive option, of course, is electrolysis if you can afford it. It will probably take more than one treatment to get the results you want.
