Getting the Haircut You Want
When you head into a salon, sometimes the choices can be overwhelming. Books everywhere, filled with every cut and color imaginable, mixed with products and helpful stylists. It is really easy to become lost in it all and unsure of what you want, and in the end, even easier to walk out with an unsatisfactory style.
Before even setting foot in the salon of your choice, you should look through books, magazines or even the Internet to find a few styles you like. Picking out just one can be hard, as not every style will work for every person. If you find two or three that could possibly be mixed together, or even ones that you like separately, you have a good chance of liking what you end up with.
Now, not every stylist will want to work off of a photo! Keep in mind that it is, no matter how great a celebrity’s hair cut is, hard to replicate something exactly. Think about the characteristics of what you want. Does it have long bangs? Choppy layers? These are the things you want to tell your stylist. If you want the cut to frame your face, make sure to tell them that! Sometimes knowing what you want is easier than judging from a photograph. Also, if you are getting a color change, make sure to say exactly what you want. If you want it slightly red, but not orange/red, tell them so before they begin.
Finding and getting a new style is so much fun, and a bad haircut can always be avoided!

Dry Skin vs. Makeup
Having dry skin can be beyond annoying, and can make it very hard to pick out makeup. People often wonder what they can use to make their skin look good, or if it will ever look good again! Dry skin is definitely bothersome, but surprise! Your skin, even if dry, can look model-beautiful in no time.
While most skin types should avoid oil based makeup, people with dry skin should flock towards it as though there is no other makeup type in the world. Water-based works just as well. Basically, as long as you are not using a powder for concealer or foundation, your skin will appreciate it. Creams do wonders for that dryness.
But what can you do to prevent it from staying so dry? Easy; exfoliate and take good care of your skin. It needs daily attention, so simply working at it once or twice a week isn’t good enough. Wash it daily, exfoliate at least once a week, and remember to sleep enough.
After a few weeks of treating your skin in the way it deserves, you won’t even have to worry about picking out makeup specifically for it.

Blending Eyeshadow
Eyeshadow is an everyday thing for many people, and at first glance it is hardly something to be worried about. You pick a color that goes well with what you are wearing or your skin tone, and simply brush it on. That’s it, time to leave! Right? Well, that could be the end to a wonderful eyeshadow story, but sometimes it leaves people wishing for more.
One thing that eyeshadow wearers forget very often is that blending goes a very, very long way. It can be as easy as blending the eyeshadow in to the rest of your makeup to create a very smooth look, or it can be more complex; such as blending two or more shades together. Either way, it will get rid of the rough edges.
Have you ever noticed how some eyeshadow stands out and looks like a piece of the puzzle went missing? This is what blending will fix! Simple use a small brush to smooth it out, letting it mix into the surrounding colors or makeup. Be careful not to blend too high or too much on either side though! If you decide to use multiple shades, it works exactly the same. A painter wouldn’t forget to blend each shade of blue in an ocean, would he? Of course not; that would look silly!
The next time you pull out your eyeshadow brush, just remember that; your eyelid is your canvas. Blend, blend, blend!

Turning Day to Night
If you have a short period of time between work and a party or just can’t quite take the time to completely redo your makeup, don’t worry! Turning your daytime look into a night-time look is surprisingly easy, once you get the hang of it. It is almost entirely in the eyes.
First, you need to pick out an eyeshadow that is just a few shades darker than the one you wore during the day. Don’t switch to another color, that would add an extra step! Brush it on in thin layers, until you achieve the darkness you prefer. A tiny bit of dark eyeliner smudged underneath your eyes (and just a tiny bit!) will help add to the dramatic transformation.
Next, add a fresh layer of mascara to your lashes, and a bit of color to your lips. That’s it! In three easy steps, you have successfully turned an everyday look into a gorgeous dramatic one. Time to hit the clubs; have fun!

A Mascara Secret
Applying mascara has always been a simple thing. You brush it on in one or two layers, and then go about the rest of your makeup (or apply it at the end and move on to something else!). Now, most of the time, when you search out mascara tips, you get the basic. How do I stop clumping? Where did all of the other tips go? What no one tells you is that there is a way to make your lashes look extra long and gorgeous.
As you start your makeup, apply one coat of mascara. This is usually best done right after you apply your base foundation and powder. Continue with your normal routine next. Make yourself pretty with your eyeshadow, blush, lipstick and anything else you like! Now here’s where it changes a bit.
Add another coat of mascara. Yes, over the already dried coat. It will add that extra sass to your lashes, and make them look even longer! You may want to use an eyelash brush now to separate them and remove any clumping, but other than that, they should look amazing!

“Dry” Hair Cut or Razor Cut
It may seem unusual to style your hair before you cut it, but that’s exactly what I have done.
My favorite way to wear my hair is long and straight. It’s naturally a little wavy, but I use a flat iron and straighten it. I like the way it glides over my shoulders and flips around softly when it’s been straightened. The most flattering haircut I get with this style is long straight, but soft layers. I also have long layered bangs (not blunt cut). The blunt cut just doesn’t work for my waves. It ends up looking choppy.
A great hair cut that I often get is what my hair stylist calls a “Dry Cut”. He blows it dry and then straightens it all before he even comes near it with the scissors. He pulls up a section at a time and cuts in a downward sweeping motion toward the floor to give me my soft cut. Occasionally he will even use a razor to get this effect. The razor gives very soft layers and makes all the hair lie with a full but flowing effect.
The dry cut gives attention to the way my hair will really lay once it’s been styled. If you like to wear your hair long and straight, ask your stylist if they have ever done a “dry cut”. You might get an effect you’ll ask for again and again.

Simple Sultry Lips
One thing people often forget is that simple lips can sometimes be better than ultra done up ones. A more natural look can go a long way, especially if done correctly. Many women tend to assume that without lipstick, they won’t look complete. In fact, sometimes lipstick can make a person look a bit too overdone!
Instead, why not try something a bit different? Forget the reds and pinks of the past, and take a look at your clear lip gloss. While it may seem boring or outdated, there is one simple thing that can do wonders for it: lip plumper.
Lip plumper is an amazing creation, and one you should try at least once. You brush it on like lip gloss and let it work it’s magic. Your lips will start to tingle within minutes, and as they do, they will puff up slightly. This can turn your small lips into a gorgeous pout people will be jealous of.
Now, you can leave the plumper’s gloss on, or you can put your own on over it. Some women find that if they wipe off the plumper and then put their own clear or tinted gloss of choice over it, nothing can top the look!
Simple has just become something that will turn heads.

Making Makeup Last
Whether you’re at work, on the road or even just sitting at home, nobody wants their makeup to fade away into nothingness easily! We want makeup that lasts all day, throughout any harsh treatment we may put it through. Sadly though, this isn’t a common thing. Most days, your makeup has faded by lunch time. So how do we fix that? Easy!
The very first step is to apply a moisturizer to your skin; followed by your foundation. Instead of putting your makeup directly onto the foundation, lightly dust a loose powder over it. This will help seal the foundation to your face. The first step to long lasting makeup!
If you’re a blush fan, keep in mind that the powder variety will stay on your cheeks longer. Mascara fans, always go the waterproof way! And those who adore eyeliner? If you try a liquid type, it will stay a lot longer than any pencil liner.
As for lips, if you carry a colored lip gloss with you throughout the day, you’ll always have it for touch-ups. However, if you prefer a lipstick, there are plenty that adhere to your lips and give you long lasting color.
If, after all this, you are still afraid of your color fading, there is one more option. Though it is usually used for theater, you can invest in a makeup setting spray, which will keep that beautiful look on your face all day long.

Makeup for Pale Skin
Many people are very fond of tanning or simply being out in the sun; but that isn’t the case for everyone! Throughout the world, a very pale skin tone is loved by a large chunk of the population. What those people don’t think about though, is that most makeup is not made for such a fair color. Very bright or dark colors can easily look ridiculous.
The first step is finding a foundation that matches your skin. This will be the hardest task that you face, because most tend to be a bit too yellow or shades too dark. Even the lightest ivory shade might be too dark! Cover up your foundation with a translucent powder and double check the colors to make sure your skin looks evenly colored.
Once your base is finished, the rest is quite a bit easier! If you are a fan of blush, a light pink will give you a very pretty rose-like glow. This will add a perfect freshness to your face. Light eyeshadow mixed with a simple shaded gloss can do wonders for pale skin, and don’t forget the mascara!
When you are finished, you should have a very classic and beautiful look. Pale skin has never looked better!

My Favorite Foundation
I am not a liquid foundation girl. Although I tend to have slightly splotchy skin due to all my freckles and sun damage, I still steer clear of overall foundation, especially the liquid kind. I just prefer a more natural fresh look as well as feeling. It’s just a personal preference. I am able to even out my skin tones by other means.
So, after I apply concealer to spots that need to be hidden, and sunscreen over everything, I finish the look with a powdered foundation. I use Revlon ColorStay Mineral Foundation in the color “fair”. It has an SPF 10. For some people, this product could feel very drying. I think that since I use it over my regular sunscreen that isn’t a problem for me. It fills in my pores and makes everything smooth and even. It also lasts a long time and stays in place. It’s so much easier to get a smooth even look with a powdered foundation as opposed to a liquid one. I use a big fluffy brush to apply it.
Remember, liquid foundation is not a preference for everyone, and this is a great option if you’re looking for an alternative.
