The Perfect Pucker

Not everyone has full, luscious lips.  To help create the perfect pucker, start with healthy lips by using quality lip protection.  Lips require moisture because they contain no natural oil glands to create it on their own.  Whether summertime, winter, or somewhere in between, lips deserve protection.  Choosing a waxy lip balm with shea or cocoa butter will not only help to seal in moisture, but will also keep lipstick in place.

Carry your lip balm at all times and reapply as often as necessary.  To help create an even sexier pout, start by using a darker colored lip liner to define your kisser and help to avoid feathering.  Next, apply a layer of lipstick, blot well and dust on face powder.  Apply another layer of lipstick and finish with a topcoat of your favorite lip balm.  This will help to keep your lip color in place and your shine will continue throughout the day (or night).

Put Your Best Face Forward – Makeup

Flawless skin is the first step to beautiful, but even the loveliest of ladies can use some help from time to time.  The look of perfect skin beings with a good foundation, preferably one containing vitamins, antioxidants, and SPF, topped with a loose powder.

In order to create a more defined face, sweep a blush right under your brow bone.  Brushing a soft peach blush lightly on cheeks will soften your look and help play up the intensity of eyes and lips, while a soft pink blush high on the cheekbones will give you a finished and youthful glow.  Bronzers are also a great option for defining the face and creating a glow, but be sure to blend them well to avoid a hardened and streaky look.

Cream blush should be used sparingly, but with the right application on the apples of the cheeks and the brow bone, you can create a youthful glow that will last throughout the day.

Beauty Tips for Your Body

Beautiful Body Care — When we think about beauty, most of us concentrate on the face, but what about the body?  How you feel can greatly affect the amount of beauty you put out into the world.  Your body deserves just as much tender loving care as your face and hair.  If you aren’t feeling your best about yourself and how you look from the neck down, some small changes can create a large impact to help energize you and improve your life.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be a burden or overwhelming.  Small changes to your diet and minimal, but regular, amounts of exercise can help you feel more confident about your body.  In addition to keeping the muscles in shape, there is a lot of skin covering that body of yours.  Look for body washes with anti-aging ingredients and deep moisturizers.  These products can help reduce the look of fine lines in dry skin and restore some of that supple, youthful glow.

Don’t disregard your underarms…especially during tank-top season.  Choose a deodorant with moisturizers and soothing ingredients like soy and acai berry or chamomile.  These will reduce redness and condition dry, irritated skin.

If you find yourself struggling with dry or dull skin, you can use a lemon-honey mask by mixing equal parts of lemon juice, honey, and olive oil.  Leave on for 5-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.  Adding a half of a cup of lemon juice to your bath an create an all over brightening effect when you’re getting ready to show off a little skin.  Be sure to take some time to pamper yourself and take care of your body.

Makeup Tips for Brown-eyed Girls

Those with deep, dark brown eyes have the freedom to enjoy, experiment, and enliven their eyes with all most any eye shadow color.  A spectrum of shades will enhance your eye color, so have fun trying them on!

To create some extra impact, give deep purples and navy blue colors a try instead of the usual black eye liner or mascara.  Contrast is the key to making your eyes stand out, so let go of the brown eye shadows that mimic your natural eye color.  Shades of mocha and cappuccino with a bit of shimmer will really stand out against your brown eyes.

However, just because you have the option to use every color in the rainbow, doesn’t necessarily mean you should.  Brown-eyed girls should take their skin tone into consideration when choosing eye shadow colors.  Talk with a color expert to find out what colors go best with your skin tone and then experiment away with all of the shade choices available to you.

Makeup Tips to Brighten Blues Eyes

Blue-eyed beauties have been looked up to for decades.  If you’ve been blessed with blue eyes, don’t take that for granted.  Make the most of it.  Most of us think that eye shadow in icy pinks are the way to go, but shades of pink and coral can often make the whites of your eyes look bloodshot or yellowed.  Broaden your horizons and think about some complimentary eyeshadow colors that can help your blues eyes POP!

To highlight those vibrant blue peepers, try some warmer colors.  Eye-shadows in sun-kissed shades of brown, gold, and taupe will increase the impact of your eyes.  For the nighttime, try mixing dark shades of turquoise, fuchsia, and even blue itself with black eyeliner.  The darker framework will make the light of your eyes really stand out!

Makeup Tips to look Younger

Young and Simple.  Who wouldn’t like to look a little younger?  To create the illusion of youth for your eyes, go with a much simpler eye make-up approach.  Start by lining the upper and lower lashes a bit heavier than normal and then smudge to create a soft, shadowy effect.  Keep the eye shadow simple by using a highlight color with a little shimmer to it like gold or silver.  Only apply the eye shadow to the middle section of the lids and then spend some time blending the soft color outward.

To finish off this youthful look, apply a couple of coats of lengthening mascara to the top lashes only.  Experiment with some of the new shimmery products on the market today like mascara with “diamond” dust or shimmering effects.  To open the eyes up a bit more and enhance the youthful, doe-eyed look, apply a small amount of white or silver eye shadow to the innermost corners of the eye and blend slightly.

Teeth Whitening Tips

The photographer holds up the camera, you pose your best stylish pose, and the shutter snaps shut. Your photo will be perfect, and you know it. Until, that is, you see the final result, and notice that your shiny white teeth are not so shiny and white. It happens to the best of us.

Each year, thousands of people spend their money on teeth whitening products. The reality of it though, is that many of these products are harmful to our teeth. They strip away things we need and leave them open to becoming sensitive! Don’t worry though! There are alternatives to get your teeth back into shape.

The next time you brush your teeth, break out the baking soda. Put a bit on your toothbrush and scrub away, then follow it up with a whitening toothpaste for sensitive teeth. The mix works wonders, and you might just be seeing some quick results in a few weeks!

If you can handle a slower fix, you can try just using the whitening toothpaste. All you need to keep in mind is to buy it for sensitive teeth. It will take awhile, but you will definitely see results. Alternatively, you can try chewing some raw vegetables, such as spinach or carrots. Surprisingly, they will naturally help freshen up your teeth, so that hot red lipstick will look incredible!

Makeup Tips for Big Eyes

Sometimes when we finish applying our makeup, our eyes just don’t have that special “oomph” that we wanted. They look small and unappealing, even with a fantastic makeup job otherwise. We could just invest in Asian circle lenses, which make the eyes seem larger, but that isn’t really a simple solution!

The biggest cause of your eyes looking smaller than they are is actually eyeliner along your bottom lash line. If you apply a dark color all the way across, it will make your eyes seem much smaller. To remedy this, only go halfway across, starting from the outside. When you get to the middle, stop and smudge it a little on either side. Instead of smaller eyes, it will seem to make them pop! They will look larger, and you will have a pretty smokey look.

We’re not done yet though! If you take a little bit of white or silver eyeliner or powder and dab it along that area that is left over, it will help give the illusion of your eyes being opened wider as well. Putting the same white shimmer directly under your eyebrows, very lightly, will do the same thing. It’s like magic!

Beauty Tips for Minimizing Problem Areas

For both women and men, minimizing problem areas is something that happens every day whether we realize it or not. By wearing certain clothes, we hide aspects of ourselves that we don’t like, for example. A shirt with longer sleeves might hide arms that we feel are too large, or a larger shirt might hide a pudgy stomach. These are things that we can, of course, become comfortable with, but sometimes it’s simply easier to make ourselves feel better by hiding them temporarily from the rest of the world.

Did you know that this can be done with our hair though? If your forehead makes you feel uncomfortable, longer bangs that go down to about your eyebrows may give you a boost of confidence. If you feel like you have too much weight under your chin, long layers may help distract from it. For every problem you have with your face, there is a hairstyle that can help raise your self confidence back up! It just takes a bit of searching.

To figure out what works for you, look into a mirror and think about what you would prefer was hidden. If you have a hairstyle book handy, or access to the internet, you can look through various styles and see what seems to hide that aspect. If you don’t the next time you go into a salon, be very specific. Tell your hairdresser that you want to hide your problem area, and ask them what they suggest. It’s actually very easy, and I know you will be pleased with the results.

Sometimes we all need that extra boost in our confidence levels.
